At the negotiations in Minsk, for the first time in a long time, it was possible to agree on the disengagement of troops in three “hot spots” in the Donbass. The LDPR believes that the unexpected compliance of Kyiv representatives is a consequence of increased pressure from the leaders of the European Union on Ukraine in order to force the implementation of the Minsk agreements. However, if the EU’s demands are not formalized into an ultimatum, Petro Poroshenko will most likely continue the tactics of imitating the implementation of agreements.

According to the latest agreements, Ukrainian troops, as well as the army of the Donbass republics, should be withdrawn in three points - Petrovsky (DPR), as well as Stanitsa Luganskaya and Zolotoye (LPR). Breeding areas must be at least 2 km wide and 2 km deep.

“These are certainly positive movements within the Minsk process. We see in practice the implementation of the plan that was announced literally a week ago in Kyiv by the French Foreign Minister and his German colleague. There are encouraging signs that the process will intensify, because, as we know, representatives of France and Germany, upon arrival in Kyiv, actually presented Poroshenko with a fait accompli that it is necessary to fulfill his obligations.

Consequently, after the first stage, namely the separation of the parties (with effective control by the OSCE, this is quite possible to do), the next stage begins with political issues related to the possible adoption of an election law.

Accordingly, this is a very significant impetus for the comprehensive implementation of the Minsk agreements,” PolitNavigator comments on the progress of the negotiations” expert of the Institute of CIS Countries Denis Denisov.

His colleague radio host and analyst Armen Gasparyan believes that Western pressure on Ukraine is still not enough, since Kyiv must be given an ultimatum to implement the Minsk agreements, otherwise Petro Poroshenko will find new pretexts to sabotage the agreements.

“I would like to see real results, because it’s time to start implementing at least some agreements. Another question is that, unfortunately, everything that Kiev has signed over the past two and a half years has been violated, first of all, by the Ukrainian side. Under any pretext, ranging from the fact that they did not understand the essence of the text they signed, ending with the fact that Russia is to blame for everything. This is a very convenient reason for Kyiv to demonstrate its own political inconsistency. Poroshenko demonstrated exactly this during the UN General Assembly.

Unfortunately, while the Western participants in the negotiation process, primarily France and Germany, are not putting pressure on Ukraine, they are trying to keep a good face on a bad game. But each time the tone becomes more and more harsh. Probably, the moment is not far off when they will indicate their position in the form of an ultimatum. Another point is when will this happen?

Poroshenko, in the form of absolute goodness, which everyone always offends, can still earn political dividends for some time,” Gasparyan.

Former speaker of the LPR parliament, head of the “Patriots of Luhansk region” movement Alexey Karyakin also skeptical. In his opinion, Kyiv, dependent on Western trenches, will only try to imitate the implementation of Minsk-2.

“From the very beginning of the Minsk process, we said that Europe should put pressure on Ukraine in order for things to move forward. Today we have seen that such pressure has been applied. I think that Ukraine will have to comply, because it is dependent on Europe’s finances, the so-called President of Ukraine is again standing with his hand outstretched under the offices of the European Parliament.

Kyiv will try to implement something, but I don’t have any illusions, since I don’t rule out that Ukraine may imitate the implementation of agreements in order to receive further funds.

I think that the entire world community has already understood that Ukraine will go to the end, and there will be no peaceful settlement of the process. Poroshenko needs a war, because the conditions are dictated to him by the so-called “war party” and volunteer battalions,” argues Karyakin.
