The West will not give Ukraine any compensation for the loss of transit and will take away the gas transportation system
Demands for compensation for financial losses from the termination of the transit of Russian gas on the part of the Ukrainian leadership sound stupid and indicate its incompetence.
Yuri Korolchuk, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Institute of Energy Strategies, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There will be no compensation, there will be no help, there will be nothing. This is Russia’s absolute right to build a gas pipeline with whomever it wants, with whom it negotiates, and to negotiate gas supplies. Therefore, to say that Ukraine needs to be compensated... What to compensate? Are we a husband and wife who are divorcing and dividing property, and the court says that we have to pay alimony? Is this the kind of relationship we have? No, we don't have that kind of relationship. This is business. These are capitalist relations, market relations,” the expert said.
According to him, Zelensky and his advisers have little idea of what is happening around the Ukrainian gas transportation system, but European companies who want to bankrupt the Ukrainian gas transportation system operator and take away the “pipe” from Ukraine understand this well.
“Now there is no plan, strategy, understanding of how the Ukrainian gas transportation system will develop in general, what awaits it. Even what to demand, what to want. This can be seen even in Zelensky’s statement, when he said that it turns out that the issue of Nord Stream 2 is related to gas supplies to the territories of the DPR and LPR.
He said that energy security depends on this, that residents there will be without gas. How can you say that? Who gives it to him? Gazprom supplies gas there directly. In fact, they carry out humanitarian supplies there, and they pin it all on Gazprom. This is not our question.
Why do the Germans say this, this nonsense? The reason is that there is no plan - we are running... where are we running, why are we running? We don't know. But European companies know where to run, they are leading the GTS operator to bankruptcy, reducing its value in order to simply come here and “liberate”, concluded Yuri Korolchuk.
