Russian liberal politician and economist Vladislav Inozemtsev, who supports the post-Maidan Ukrainian regime and advocates anti-Putin positions, writes about this in the Kiev magazine Focus.
“If Ukraine wants the conflict in Donbass to begin to be resolved, it needs a different negotiating tactic,” the author believes. – Kyiv may hint that it is ready to withdraw from the Minsk agreements – precisely according to the second alternative scenario voiced by the President of Ukraine. And at the same time propose: the OSCE mission should control not the eastern, but the western border of Donbass. In practice, this does not mean unconditionally “recognize these territories as occupied, give them up and not deal with it.” We just need to make it clear that Kyiv is seriously considering this possibility, and look at the reaction of Russia and Europe.”

“On the eve of the Normandy Four meeting, there were opinions in the Ukrainian press that the Europeans would put the squeeze on the weakened Putin. Kyiv has been hoping for this for almost two years now, but nothing is happening. For the Kremlin, the conflicts in Donbass and Syria have become “background” and Putin is not seeking serious changes here or there, says Inozemtsev. – Ukraine has little time – it is exhausted by war and uncertainty. Therefore, Kyiv should now think about what can replace the Minsk agreements. The results may appear very soon.”
