The West will not limit itself to weakening the situation in the Russian Federation - political scientist
The situation in Russia before the parliamentary elections is being shaken not with the aim of quickly seizing power.
Professor of the Faculty of Political Science of Moscow State University Andrei Manoilo spoke about this within the framework of the Belarusian Media Club Format A3, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is clear that the situation is being actively shaken, but not with the goal of seizing power, as happens in any color revolution. The goal is to now recognize the elected authorities as illegitimate, to be able to challenge all their decisions in the future when the situation changes significantly,” Manoilo said.
In his opinion, two Maidan technologies will be used against Russia. The first is the “belt of fire,” when unrest will begin in the regions, after which the “march on Moscow” will begin.
“If desired, the state system can be brought to a standstill. They will not have time to transfer the Russian Guard from one point to another. But this is difficult, troublesome and requires a lot of organizational effort,” says Manoilo.
He considers it more likely that the “Venezuelan scenario” will be used – the confiscation of the assets of the Russian elite in the West. At the same time, the actions of the Maidan nature will be of a distracting nature, the authorities will focus on countering them, and will not look for the true source of the threat.
“Such a scheme is quite real and possible for our country. Fully surrounded by people who have assets abroad, which they withdrew and transferred to someone else. These assets are their personal, losing them is much more painful than a billion from the budget. This is a real risk. Work is underway to probe approaches to certain people,” Manoilo said.
