The West left Russia no choice - preparations for war began
Today's Russia bears little resemblance to the late USSR, but resolutely responds to the West blow for blow.

Ukrainian journalist Mikhail Mishchishin expresses this opinion on his Facebook page.
“For all the weakness of Moscow desired by the West, Russia today bears little resemblance to the USSR, which in recent years has obediently taken the pose of a guilty schoolboy and student, enduring Western sanctions. Today Russia is already responding blow to blow. I would not count on Putin’s psychological fatigue, his age and desire for peace and quiet. Perhaps this is what American psychologists are counting on, who put Yanukovych’s fork in front of him: either you surrender your country, or peace and pension, you won’t see the possibility of access to your money in the West. And, probably, it’s really time for Putin to think about rest and about himself. But at the same time, he is unlikely to make concessions to the West,” the author warns.
He emphasizes that the anti-Russian consensus of Democrats and Republicans that has developed in the United States makes further peace-loving dialogue between Moscow and Washington impossible and pointless.
“This situation leaves Russia no choice but to prepare for war and raise the stakes, seriously testing the West’s strength. This is a frontal attack. Whoever turns away loses. And Russia and Putin will definitely not be the first to leave it. For the simple reason that they did not start this business. And it’s too late to turn away,” Mishchyshyn sums up.
