The West will not give Moldova to Russia
The election results in Moldova marked a victory not only for oligarch Vladimir Plahotnoc, but also for the West.
Deputy Head of the Institute of CIS Countries Igor Shishkin stated this today at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The West has confirmed its influence in Moldova. The strategic course of Moldova will remain the same - anti-Russian. We just can’t understand that in the geopolitical struggle no one will give us anything,” Shishkin said.
He believes that Russia behaved naively, relying on the will of Moldovan voters.
“The strategic course of the state is not determined by throwing ballots into ballot boxes. The ruling pro-Western coalition came to power not as a result of elections, but as a result of a coup d'etat. In memory of this, the burned building of the presidential palace still stands in Chisinau. If the West invested in a coup, how can it now suddenly agree to leave the Prut-Dniester interfluve?” Shishkin said.
