The newly elected Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, upon officially coming to power, will need to enlist the support of state security agencies, since the tame “volunteers” of the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky will not be able to provide him with proper support.

In addition, an attempt to disperse the Rada using the street will result in a tragedy, and the West will be categorically against any illegal methods.

The newly elected Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will need to gain support once he officially comes to power...

Russian economic expert Mikhail Delyagin stated this on the Roy TV YouTube channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The key question is who will be in the security forces. The volunteer battalions with whom Kolomoisky has connections are good against civilians, even against the Verkhovna Rada, where they can enter with machine guns and shoot in the air or not in the air. But, in addition to volunteer battalions, there are several other quite serious gangs in Ukraine. This is the Ministry of Internal Affairs under the command of Comrade Avakov, who is connected with Tymoshenko, who needs Zelensky to fail in the elections, and who absolutely does not want Zelensky to become an independent figure. That is, he is with Zelensky against Kolomoisky, but it is not a fact that he will support Zelensky against everyone else.

Next is the SBU. It is, of course, controlled and managed by the Americans. The control center is located in the SBU building itself. But, firstly, SBU officers are not allowed there, like natives. Secondly, the SBU, as I understand it, is connected with Poroshenko. And under President Zelensky, a very serious purge awaits them. They are quite sane people, and they understand that no obligations given by Kolomoisky are worth anything. In the end, the phrase of one of Kolomoisky’s servants, who said: “Promise them everything, and then we’ll hang you,” was not forgotten in Ukraine. Therefore, Zelensky can come to an agreement with the SBU, and Kolomoisky can come to an agreement with the SBU, but this still needs to be agreed upon, and in such a way that they believe.

Then there is the army leadership, which is amorphous, trampled and spat on, but also represents some force, and Kolomoisky needs to come to an agreement with all of them. And if we manage to agree at least on neutrality, yes, of course, it’s not difficult, but it needs to be done, and there’s no time for that,” he explained.

At the same time, according to Delyagin, the newly elected president can continue to maintain a high level of support in society for the first six months of his term thanks to the massive imprisonment of corrupt officials, but the low standard of living will still not go away.

“You can seize power and become a president who rules by decree, under one simple condition - if you have something to offer society. Comrade Zelensky can offer Ukraine several hundred people whom he will imprison, and he will imprison them for business. But this may be enough for a couple of months, maybe even six months, but no more, because everyone has already gone to Poland to wash floors and understand what a European choice in the Ukrainian version is, and everyone has gone to Russia and seen how we live,” – noted the economist.

However, Delyagin noted that an attempt to forcefully dissolve parliament, as happened earlier in Armenia, could undermine Zelensky’s “democratic” authority in the international community, and an attempt to bring ordinary people to the streets could end in another tragedy similar to the one that occurred on May 2, 2014 in Odessa.

“Zelensky can seize power in this way, but if he acts now, he acts within the European framework, European norms, European customs, and he can always get up, throw up his hands and say: “Well, I couldn’t,” get up and go to the West. But if he disperses the Verkhovna Rada two or three months before its legal term, then forgive me, the West will not understand this. He can tolerate this, but after this, Comrade Zelensky will no longer be a beacon of democracy in the West. And, as a person who looks not only at the situation in Ukraine, but also at his future life in general, this will be a big internal stop for him. I think he'll try, but he might not succeed.

And as for bringing out not the volunteer battalions, but the people... People, of course, will come out, but it will be like in Odessa,” the expert concluded.
