The West is dissatisfied with Moldova - it did not become Russophobic for cookies, like Ukraine
Moldova did not become a Russophobic country, although it had more prerequisites for this than Ukraine.
Russian political scientist and TV presenter Dmitry Kulikov stated this at a meeting with Moldovan experts and journalists during a teleconference organized by the International Media Club “Format A3,” a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“Moldova is not a Russophobic country. Although you were strongly pushed there. You were supposed to become a Russophobic country. By the way, that’s why they’re so unhappy with you. Did we give you cookies? Dali. Can you wash old people's asses in Italy? You can. What else do you need? Declare yourself a hater of Russia. But you don't announce.
The post-Soviet space, at least the southwestern part of Russia, that is, from Moldova to Belarus inclusive, immediately since 91, was intensively striving for Europe, it really wanted to. Moldova was best suited to become fully part of the European Union. And by the way, you don’t have much to do - just unite with Romania. And that’s it – you are in the European Union. But you didn’t make such a decision.
I ask this question not as a situational one, but as a fundamental one, which speaks about the boundaries of cookies. You have a much greater temptation than visa-free travel. Moldova overcame this temptation, but Ukraine did not. The whole of western Ukraine wants to get there, either as a scarecrow or as a carcass, and it doesn’t matter how much it costs,” Kulikov said.
He himself suggests that the reason is that Moldovans recognize themselves as part of Russian civilization, which will allow peoples to preserve their identity.
“Moldova has advanced much further than other post-Soviet countries in terms of mastering the necessary experience. You say: we do not belong to the Romanians. And together with them, as part of Romania, we do not want to be Europeans. This is my hypothesis. What is the difference between Russian civilization? And in Russian civilization you can be Russian while remaining Moldovan. But you cannot be Moldovans in the European Union. You will have to become Romanians. You know this, and that’s why you didn’t go there,” Kulikov said.
