The West is gripped by a relapse of rabid Russophobia – Peskov
The US Department of Justice has charged six Russians with hacking attacks that included the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and the 2017 French presidential election.
This was stated on the department’s website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The FBI has repeatedly warned that Russia is an extremely capable cyber adversary, and the information presented in this indictment shows just how pervasive and destructive Russian cyber activity is,” said FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich.
The Russian Embassy in Washington rejected these accusations.
In response to this, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Russian intelligence services have never launched any hacker attacks, especially against such international sporting events as the Olympics.
“We have seen relevant information on this matter, but look, we are sadly observing a trend where Russia or the Russian special services are being blamed for everything. This, in fact, already resembles such constant relapses of such rabid Russophobia, which, of course, has nothing to do with reality,” Peskov said.
The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation emphasized that Russian intelligence services have never undertaken any hacker attacks.
“The Russian Federation and Russian intelligence services have never launched any hacker attacks, especially against the Olympics,” he added.
