Poroshenko called speculation that he was allegedly planning to recapture Donetsk “nonsense” and said that this could be read “only in Russian newspapers,” he reports. RBC. According to him, he himself saw “modern Russian weapons” in Donetsk, which, according to him, runs counter to the Minsk agreements.

Poroshenko rejected criticism that he himself might be adding fuel to the conflict with nationalist rhetoric. “Few people in the world call me and my government nationalist,” the Ukrainian president responded to this.

At the same time, Poroshenko emphasized that Ukraine stands for the implementation of the Minsk agreements. He noted that Ukraine is observing the ceasefire. “We stand for the Minsk agreements, we do not see a military solution to the conflict,” he said.

“We will be able to achieve peace only through the reintegration of the occupied territories through peace negotiations and the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Ukrainian regions,” he explained. In addition, Poroshenko believes, the border with Russia should be closed, and OSCE observers should monitor it.

Poroshenko considers the protection of the country’s territory to be his main priority. “We will not allow anyone to come to us with weapons and conquer us We will fight for our country to the last drop of blood,” Poroshenko said. “This is our land, which is our homeland,” he added.

The publication recalls that at the end of April, in an interview with the STB TV channel, Poroshenko stated that “the war will end when Ukraine returns Donbass and Crimea.” “How long will it take? As long as it takes,” he said.
