The West planned to do to Russia what it did to Ukraine
The West succeeded in Ukraine what it failed in Russia: to create a colonial power. Political scientist Timofey Sergeytsev stated this at a meeting of the Zinoviev Club in Moscow.

“The task was to create a class of oligarchs so that they would enter that system and control power here. This is what is happening in Ukraine now. The Ukrainian government has no other vehicle other than the oligarchic one. They only do it for the money. But it's money for them. But for those for whom they do it, it’s not money,” Sergeytsev said.
In Russia, according to the political scientist, the Yeltsin administration was established as a colonial one, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The goal was to seize the infrastructure and then liquidate the state. The criterion was very simple: whether they would be able to privatize Gazprom and all other corporations structural to the economy. But this could not be done even under Yeltsin. Corporations at that moment turned out to be bearers of Russian statehood. It was not possible to colonize them. It all came down to taking money out. The oligarchic system is limited by Putin’s rule and is in a compromise relationship with him,” Sergeytsev said.
