“The West will move. Three quarters of the planet’s population are our partners” - Lavrov
The collective West, accustomed to leading the whole world for the last half-millennium, is categorically not satisfied with the new trend towards the establishment of a multipolar world order.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this at a press conference in Volgograd, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The fact that we have created an excellent army, that we, relying on this army, defend our interests, the interests of our citizens, much more effectively, that we are carrying out deep economic reforms. Yes, not without mistakes, not without slowdowns, the coronavirus pandemic has intervened in the last year and a half. But there is a forward movement.
And not everyone likes this, because our Western colleagues are used to leading the whole world for almost 500 years. And suddenly a new trend has emerged to establish a multipolar world order, as new centers of economic development and centers of financial power are growing and rapidly developing. With this comes political influence.
It is enough to mention our truly strategic partners, such as China and India. We are building good and mutually beneficial relations with the vast majority of countries in the world,” Lavrov said.
“Western colleagues are trying to slow down our forward movement. They are looking for any reason to announce unilateral illegal sanctions. Long before what happened in Ukraine and before the referendum, as a result of which the Crimeans returned to Russia, the West was already trying to build restrictions into its relations with us, in the hope of slowing us down.
Therefore, we have no illusions. We have long since concluded after the wave of these restrictions that were imposed on us in 14 that we must rely, first of all, on our own strengths,” the minister added.
At the same time, he once again noted that there are many reliable partners with whom Moscow has friendly and mutually beneficial relations.
“We have a huge number of partners - China, India, African countries - for the first time a couple of years ago, almost in full force came to Sochi at the highest level for the first ever Russia-Africa summit.
Branched relations with Latin America. And, of course, our immediate surroundings are the CIS countries, the CSTO, the EAEU, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the BRICS association - Russia, India, China, Brazil and South Africa. This is approximately ¾ of the world's population. We have stable, friendly, mutually beneficial, equal relations with these partners,” summed up Sergei Lavrov.
