The West is forcing Africans and Arabs to supply weapons to Ukraine
The United States intends to transfer to Ukraine weapons confiscated during an attempt to transfer them to the Yemeni Houthi rebels, who, with the support of Iran, are fighting against Saudi Arabia and its allies, which has occupied part of Yemen.
At the same time, experts do not rule out that weapons confiscated off the coast of Libya could be sent to Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is still a UN arms embargo against the parties to the conflict in Libya, and EU naval ships are operating near the coast of the country, trying to intercept military supplies. For example, in November, a ship sailing from the United Arab Emirates to Libya with dozens of armored vehicles was stopped,” military observer Yuri Lyamin told Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
According to him, the ship was redirected to one of the European ports, and the armored vehicles themselves were confiscated. He believes that the list of such donors for the Ukrainian Armed Forces may be wider.
“It should also be noted that the United States and its allies and their intelligence services are now carefully working with various African, Asian and Latin American countries in search of weapons and especially ammunition for Ukraine. If some of them refuse to cooperate, then others may well succumb to threats and bribery,” the expert added.
He is convinced that this one way or another opens the way to the secret resale of the reserves of Soviet and Russian production available to these states, as well as products of Iranian, North Korean and Chinese origin.
But Libya specialist Jalel Harchaoui points out that not the largest shipments go to this country by sea, mainly aid from the UAE.
“Even by redirecting Iranian supplies for Yemen to Ukraine, America is making only a symbolic gesture. In real life, this does not matter,” Harchaoui emphasized.
