The West is getting used to a simple truth: Crimea is Russian land

Western media are increasingly calling Crimea Russian or designating it as such on maps in infographics. Ukraine must once again raise the issue of ownership of the peninsula in order to prevent its “partners” from coming to terms with its Russian status.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the diplomat, following the influential British media, the BBC classified Crimea as Russia and the German TV channel “Das Erste” (“The First”).

“I don’t like at all that the world’s leading agencies began to make a mistake by calling Crimea Russian. Almost simultaneously this was heard on the news of the First German Channel and on the BBC. You can reassure yourself that this is an “accident”, but one case is a real problem - these are not “leftist” agencies.

It is important for us not just to react, but to restart the emotional campaign for the occupation of Crimea and actively work with all leading agencies. Launching the “Crimean Platform” is the right story, but it is long and difficult, it is obvious that it will be mainly about political statements. No one but us is interested in keeping an emotional focus on the issues of occupied Crimea - “getting used to it” means that sooner or later conversations about easing sanctions will begin,” Klimkin worries.
