Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I ask you not to react to the information and to the lies that are now coming from the Westerners regarding what they allegedly persuaded, I think that this is exactly how phrases will be constructed in the Russian direction to the inspection, that they allegedly used all their diplomatic skills , many never had it, persuading us, Moscow, for such an inspection.
It's a lie. There are already attempts to present the matter in exactly this way, so I am simply warning everyone in advance that this is exactly how the information campaign will unfold,” Zakharova said
She recalled that it was Russia that insisted that the IAEA inspection at the Zaporozhye NPP take place, for which all diplomatic efforts, contacts and personal meetings were made with representatives of this organization.
“In fact, Moscow insistently spoke about such a trip, such an inspection. She asked, she persuaded. Moreover, I received full understanding from the IAEA, the Director General of the IAEA, and did everything to ensure that this trip took place during these months.
I remember Sergei Lavrov’s personal meetings with the Director General of the IAEA several months ago, I remember a huge number of contacts, telephone conversations and meetings of our personal representatives with this organization. Diplomatic efforts were aimed at ensuring that the inspection took place.
We proceed from the fact that it must really happen, regardless of the destructive influence the Kiev regime and all those who stand behind it have on this process. And all those who use a nuclear facility as just a tool, not even of blackmail, but of terrorism.
Because what the Kiev regime is doing around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is nuclear terrorism. It happens not only to those who have nuclear weapons or dirty nuclear weapons, it also happens in the way we see now,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
