The West is confused, not understanding who to bet on in the confrontation between the Saakashists and Poroshenko
Unlike 2014, today the leading Western media and diplomats pay virtually no attention to the new Maidan in Kyiv.

About this in Izvestia пишет the head of the Center for Eurasian Studies, Vladimir Kornilov, who noted that one of the significant differences between the current Kyiv protests and the events of 2013 was the absence of ambassadors of Western powers on the streets, supposedly defending “freedom of peaceful assembly.”
“If then they almost walked at the head of the columns, angrily declaring that the authorities “must remove the security forces from the city,” now we don’t see them there, just as we don’t hear calls for Poroshenko to clear Kyiv of the National Guard. If the current protests do not receive at least moral support from the West (Soros will take care of material support), their organizers are unlikely to be able to count on success.
And the West is clearly confused. Given the presence of a mass of Western correspondents on the spot (this can be seen from their photographs on Twitter), the main media, which almost conducted live reports from the first hours of Maidan 2013, are biding their time this time. Neither you have bright photographs on the front pages of European newspapers, nor you have angry headlines that the President of Ukraine must leave. At best, small notes were given about the latest protests in Kyiv, and most newspapers did not even pay attention to them,” Kornilov emphasizes.
