Petro Poroshenko's Ukraine waging an imaginary war with Russia only weakened the country and further divided society, which indicates the fallacy of the anti-Russian course.
Kiev political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on air on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The eternal hybrid war with Russia weakens us, it does not strengthen us. There are wars that unite a nation, and there are wars that, on the contrary, weaken it. Peter Alekseevich failed to unite the nation on the basis of war, on the basis of the enemy, Russia. This is the country. Maybe Western Ukraine could be united against Russia: “Russia is the enemy. We are all mobilizing, we are all fighting, no trade, and so on.” And if the country is complex, multicultural, where does the Russian-speaking population live?” Karasev noted.
At the same time, according to the political scientist, the new Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky needs to soften his rhetoric and take the path of negotiations.
“He will change his discourse, his approaches, he will be forced to change, because these approaches will be changed by Merkel, Macron, Donald Trump will change in the direction of some kind of compromise. Why can't you see? They are preparing to lift the sanctions, PACE lifted the sanctions.
