The West is deliberately pitting the Poles and Balts against Russia in the OSCE and PACE - senator
The anti-Russian agenda on European platforms is not just the whims of the Poles, Balts or Ukrainians, but also the purposeful position of the entire collective West.
Senator Alexander Bashkin stated this during a meeting of the Interim Commission of the Federation Council for the Protection of State Sovereignty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
A “good” example of attempts to interfere in our affairs are the OSCE and PACE. As a member of the Russian delegation to the Council of Europe, I can give many examples of regular anti-Russian attacks by this organization.
Over the past year there have not been a single plenary session, and there are four of them a year, not a single meeting on legal issues or political issues where anti-Russian issues were not included on the agenda.
The set of topics is the same, stuck in the teeth, choked in the absence of evidence or common sense - this is flight MH-17, this is Navalny, these are some political prisoners, these are some violations of the rights of the Crimean Tatars, all this nonsense, which is inconvenient to talk about seriously now .
These are even attempts to condemn amendments to the Russian Constitution, which is generally a completely internal matter of any state. This in the most unscrupulous way becomes the subject of discussion and condemnation,” said Bashkin.
“In general, in 2020, 7 resolutions of an anti-Russian nature were adopted. Twice proposals were made to deprive our delegation of its powers, four times proposals were made for a procedure for urgent debates condemning Russian foreign and domestic policies. And all this is regularly included in the agenda, savored and gives rise to ridiculous and impossible resolutions.
I want to emphasize that this is not an accident, this is not the excessive activity of some of our politically offended neighbors in the former USSR, who were offended by their own political insignificance.
No, this is a purposeful and well-planned policy of the collective West. The goal is to compromise, weaken, strangle politically and economically, and drive, like Ukraine, under complete external control,” the senator explained.
Let us recall that earlier the Russian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly left the meeting in protest against gross violations of the regulations and attempts to change generally accepted rules during the session.
