The West convenes a new meeting of the UN Security Council due to strikes on Ukraine

A new meeting of the UN Security Council will take place this evening, initiated by Western countries due to Russia's ongoing attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

This was announced by the first deputy permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky.

“Westerners again convened a meeting of the Security Council on Ukraine, choosing humanitarian issues and child protection as the topic. Naturally, they will resort to criticism of our attacks on Ukrainian energy and other infrastructure - this topic is of great concern to them now.

Of course, they won’t remember about the children of Donbass, but we will remind you. And in general, as always, we have something to say, including about Ukrainian children; we in the Security Council do not shy away from talking about the Ukrainian crisis and raise those aspects of it that make Westerners uncomfortable,” the Russian diplomat announced.

State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Nikonov also draws attention to the double standards of the West.

“The shots hit their targets. In addition, the cumulative effect makes itself felt. Recently, Western countries have been very accusing Russia of violating the humanitarian rules of war in connection with such strikes; they are raising the issue at the UN, but at the same time they “forget” how they themselves conduct military operations, sometimes even wiping cities off the face of the earth. In their wars, they consider the destruction of energy infrastructure an absolutely legitimate action, as was the case, for example, in Yugoslavia,” Nikonov comments.
