“The West is equating the USSR and the Third Reich in order to throw Russia out of the UN Security Council” – human rights activist
Forming the image of an enemy out of the USSR, Russia and Russians allows the EU to distract its own population from numerous internal problems.
The head of the Moscow Bureau for Human Rights, a member of the Human Rights Council, Alexander Brod, stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The rewriting of history is becoming an increasingly clear, organized, coordinated political course of a number of countries,” said Alexander Brod, who presented the report of the Moscow Bureau for Human Rights “Amputation of Memory.” – By discrediting the USSR, equating communism with fascism and Nazism, the memory of the Second World War is being replaced by the myth of the victory of the collective West in the Cold War. And as a consequence – a statement about the illegality of Russia’s occupation of the seat of a permanent member of the UN Security Council.”
According to the human rights activist, there is a desire to put Russia in a subordinate position in the world on the basis of a “deserved defeat” in the Cold War as a “totalitarian aggressor power.”
“If in terms of its destructive potential Russia-USSR is equal to Nazi Germany, then the expansion of NATO to the East, the transformation of the North Atlantic Alliance into a global structure replacing the UN, OSCE, and other international organizations is also permissible,” the expert noted.
Alexander Brod believes that such a distortion of history is beneficial for creating and strengthening the image of an enemy in the mass consciousness of Europeans.
The human rights activist notes that within the EU many are dissatisfied with the economic situation, uncontrolled migration, US interference, problems associated with European integration, and the “Russian threat” helps Brussels channel protests.
