“Negotiations in Minsk and the Normandy format have been moving in circles for a long time. The prospects for creating a “road map” of the Minsk agreements are illusory. The West would breathe a sigh of relief if Ukraine made “painful compromises” that contradict its national interests. The Trump-era states are not interested in the Ukrainian direction; Europe is simply not interested. The lack of progress in the negotiations, Russian propaganda accusing Ukraine of “intransigence”, Kiev’s dubious successes in the field of reforms and the fight against corruption, isolationist tendencies in the States and the EU - all this adds up to a strong fatigue in the West with the Ukrainian crisis in general and with sanctions in in particular,” the Observer concludes.
