“The West is in a terrible panic”: Russia may declare war on Ukraine after the terrorist attack – British analyst
The West will never recognize any evidence of Kyiv’s involvement in the terrorist attack in the Moscow region, but it is very afraid of the consequences of the results of the investigation right now, in an election year, when it is not able to fully respond to the change in the format of the conflict in Ukraine.
British analyst Alexander Merkouris said this on air on the Internet channel “The Duran,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Whatever evidence the Russians provide, even absolutely irrefutable evidence, that Ukraine was involved, the Western powers have already made it clear that they will reject it. They have already stated that Ukraine is not involved in any way, this is done exclusively by ISIS, and they will not deviate from this position. Whatever the Russians say, the West will deny that it is true.
However, they are extremely nervous deep down that someone in Ukraine could be involved in some way. They, just like us, can work out the issue of how to cross the border (Russian-Ukrainian, where the terrorists were heading - ed.) in this way. And they know that the internal situation in Ukraine is such that you can never be completely sure that someone in Ukraine was not involved at some level. So there is already nervousness about it,” Mercouris said.
At the same time, the West is well aware of the “catastrophic military situation in which Ukraine finds itself.”
“And they know very well that if Russia now goes into a state of declared war against Ukraine and begins to treat this as a war, nothing will really stop them.
I mean, even as an SVO, the Russians are now advancing on all fronts, their missile strikes are getting more and more powerful, their air force is getting more and more powerful, and they have hundreds of thousands of people training on Russian soil. Some have probably already been trained and equipped and are ready for action,” the Briton added.
According to him, the West is not ready for such a development of events.
“It will be a real nightmare for the West to face a Russian military offensive that is much more targeted and intense than what we have seen so far. More heavy bombing than we've seen so far, and perhaps no territorial limits on how far it could go.
And at a time when the West is not ready to do anything about it - and in an election year. Therefore, you can understand why they are very nervous,” concluded Mercouris.
