The West is introducing a false myth about “poor Nazis” and “atrocities of Belarusian partisans”
The West began introducing a new false myth into Belarus in order to discredit the activities of the Red partisans during the Great Patriotic War. Soviet underground fighters allegedly provoked the Nazis to burn villages and brutalize civilians.
Belarusian political scientist Alexander Shpakovsky stated this during a conference dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The situation around myths against Soviet partisans, according to the expert, can be attributed to elements of the hybrid war waged by the West against Russia and the post-Soviet space.
“We are dealing with an element of hybrid war, we are talking about information and psychological operations, actions of influence aimed at undermining the traditional historical memory of the Russian people and peoples included in the orbit of what is commonly called the Russian Orthodox civilization or the Russian world.
Ultimately, we are talking about the goals of fragmenting this common space around Russia and Russia itself as the final point of a complex of these events.
Almost all forms of so-called small-town nationalisms that arose in the space of Russian civilization and are directed against Russia include a historical myth.
If we take the Republic of Belarus, then Belarusian nationalism contains a number of historical myths of an anti-Russian nature and, of course, one of them is approaches to assessing the Great Patriotic War.
Everyone knows about the importance of the partisan movement for Belarus, and so, in our space the thesis is already being promoted that the partisans were not much different in their cruelty from Hitler’s punitive forces against civilians. And, moreover, the actions of Hitler’s punitive forces, including such high-profile ones as the burning of the village of Khatyn, were due to the actions of partisans who stayed in populated areas for the night, carried out their military operations against the Germans near populated areas, and so, the poor Germans the fascist invaders and collaborators were forced to react in this way.
Moreover, in their pseudoscientific reasoning they go so far as to say that the Soviet command deliberately gave instructions from the central headquarters of the partisan movement to commit sabotage against the invaders near populated areas and, thus, provoke the Nazis into aggression against the civilian population, so that in this way destabilize the situation in the occupied territory,” Shpakovsky retold the content of false Western myths.
