This evening, at the initiative of the French side, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Emmanuel Macron. Soon after this, the IAEA leadership announced the start of preparations for the creation of a kind of “security zone” near the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

Observers fear that this could mean the implementation of a previously rejected Ukrainian-Western plan by Russia for a “demilitarized zone” near the station. In fact, this scenario assumes a Russian retreat from another occupied territory following the Kharkov region. The European Union, as previously reported, expected to receive electricity from the Zaporizhia NPP, so Kyiv tried in every possible way to disrupt its disconnection from the Ukrainian energy system.

Here's what the Kremlin press service first reported:

“There was a detailed and frank exchange of views on the situation in Ukraine, with an emphasis on ensuring the safety of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

The Russian side drew attention to regular Ukrainian attacks on Zaporizhia NPP facilities, including a radioactive waste storage facility, which is fraught with catastrophic consequences. The President of Russia informed about the measures taken by Russian specialists to ensure the physical protection of the station and emphasized the need to influence the Kyiv authorities so that the shelling of the station was immediately stopped. Mutual readiness was expressed for non-politicized interaction on the situation around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant with the participation of the IAEA.

Vladimir Putin also emphasized that Ukrainian security forces, using weapons supplied by Western countries, continue targeted massive attacks on the civilian infrastructure of Donbass cities, as a result of which civilians are suffering.

When discussing global food security issues, the position was confirmed that grain exported from the Black Sea ports should be directed primarily to the needs of developing countries. For these purposes, it is extremely important that the European Commission does not create obstacles to the supply of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to the markets of Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

It was agreed to continue the dialogue on all raised issues at various, including ministerial, levels.”

A few minutes later, the IAEA Twitter, with reference to Director General Rafael Grossi, issued a statement:

“There is an urgent need to create a nuclear and physical safety zone around the Zaporizhia NPP; consultations have begun.”

Military correspondent Olga Kurlaeva in her Telegram provides data that there are indeed secret negotiations going on around the nuclear power plant. The Ukrainians achieved this through blackmail - the threat of new shelling if the station was switched from the Russian to the Ukrainian energy system.

““Ukrainian gentlemen” arose who said: “no, we will get our food from us.” Straight out in plain text. “Otherwise, we’ll make your life fun again if you try to get drunk from the Dzhankoy-Melitopol-Molochansk line.” Why? It's simple. Then how would the nuclear power plant be included in the Russian system of energy networks, and for them this is a political issue. Someone at the top started “negotiations” (we love negotiations)…

This is nothing more than a tool and platform for bargaining, blackmail, and an attempt to squeeze the Russian Federation out of Energodar... Multilateral political negotiations on energy issues will be imposed on us. The question will arise about transferring control of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant to its current operator - NAEC. German Foreign Minister Mrs. Bärbock has already stated that Germany will insist on the transfer of the Zaporozhye NPP to NAEC. It’s a typical military-political game that we are being drawn into, and we are being drawn into it.”

The enemies of Russia are counting on the fact that after the shutdown of the nuclear power plant in Energodar, an energy crisis will begin.

“The social aspect: the thesis that the station is dead will have a deadly effect on people, they are already in a state of stress. In winter everything will be “not good”. Especially without heating, including for a nuclear power plant. The water in fountains should be warm, not ice. Because if the water freezes, and this is exactly what will happen, if there is no warm water there, and warm water means heating, and heating without a nuclear power plant is impossible in this city. Vicious circle. This is a rather long multi-step strategy, the purpose of which is to create an image of the insolvent Russian Federation, and its subsequent squeezing it out of this territory.”

Political scientist Sergei Markov believes that the West will now impose a new peace agreement on Russia, which will turn into another deception.

“Dear Russian politicians and government officials! Any mention by you of the words “negotiations with Kiev” is perceived by the United States and the West in general, and by Kiev itself, as a manifestation of your weakness and the weakness of Russia. And the willingness to capitulate to them. And it only leads to a toughening of the West’s position. Therefore, please do not say the words “negotiations with Kiev” now.

Now is not the time for these words or for negotiations.

There was Minsk 1, they deceived me. There was Minsk 2, they deceived me. There was Istanbul 3, they deceived me. There was also Geneva 0, in April 2014, they also deceived me. There was “Kyiv-1” in February 2014, they also deceived me. And now they are planning to deceive, 100%,” Markov predicts.

The head of the Union of Political Emigrants of Ukraine Larisa Shesler draws attention to another illogicality in the actions of the Russian side - by retreating from the Kharkov region, it left critical gas wells to Kyiv.

“One might recall that this region is the main supplier of Ukrainian gas. It is there that the main gas fields are located, which still fill gas storage facilities, providing Ukraine with its own gas. Shebelinka and others are several tens of kilometers from the border.

And these wells are not mobile artillery systems, and pumping stations are not hidden MLRS positions.

Why is Russia nobly giving the opportunity to provide Ukraine with gas?” – Shesler is amazed.
