The collective West is reaching a new, forceful level of confrontation with Russia, while Moscow again lost time, expecting that there will be no changes, at least until the elections in the United States.
Political scientist Dmitry Evstafiev said this during a broadcast on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The main bet of the West, by and large it was until very recently, was on economic war. But now she has changed again. Look, now they are busy shaking up the perimeter around Russia throughout Eurasia. Indeed, we already have a war in Ukraine. We have a heated conflict again in Karabakh or around Armenia and Azerbaijan, it has already moved to a new stage. We have a clear escalation in at least one, and most likely two, points in Central Asia.
Most likely, we will get something in the area of what used to be called the Great Steppe, which is Russia's largest land border. And it will be pretty fast.
But this is already the use of military power tools. They have moved to another stage. They are gradually moving away from the principled stake on, namely, the economic breakdown of Russia. And they rely on tougher methods.
Why? Because they realized that Russia cannot be broken using purely economic methods. Russia has demonstrated a relatively high level of socio-economic sustainability compared to what they planned,” the political scientist said.
According to him, the West is now ready not only to move to tougher methods of influencing Russia, but also to include in this the widest range of power tools.
“In this case, we again missed the wind of time. Because we all thought, and I thought too, and I also do not abdicate responsibility here, because I thought that, at least until the elections in the United States, they would try to maintain themselves within the framework of a hybrid war. What is called, at the lower stages of exacerbation. But they created a new aggravation.
