The West turns a blind eye to Donbass – the largest humanitarian disaster in Europe

The West is not ready to impose sanctions on Ukraine, which is committing war crimes in the Donbass. Political scientist Armen Gasparyan stated this at a press conference in Moscow today.

“In order to impose sanctions, there must be political will. During the 1018 days of the war in Donbass, the West and the United States did not comprehend the processes that took place from mid-November 2013 to March 2014. If there is no comprehension, if weapons are supplied under the slogan of the peace process, what kind of sanctions can we talk about?” – said Gasparyan.

At the same time, he admits that sooner or later an understanding of what is happening in Ukraine will happen, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The guarantor countries of the Minsk agreements – Germany and France – must play their role. They are currently inactive. The United States regards everything that is happening as normal costs when building democracy. Apparently, until the largest humanitarian disaster breaks out in Europe, there will be no serious progress,” Gasparyan said.

He drew attention to the fact that the UN report on human rights violations in Ukraine did not make any impression in the West.

“Nobody wants to admit the obvious facts. Although what is happening in Donbass has already surpassed what is commonly called a crime against humanity in international law,” Gasparyan said.
