“The Western healthcare system has completely fallen into disarray,” – Rada deputy
It is simply criminal to continue the medical reform of the American Ulyana Suprun in Ukraine during the coronavirus pandemic, especially when it becomes obvious that the Western healthcare system is not coping with the epidemic.
Ex-speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Oleg Voloshin stated this on the air of the 112 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The entire Western healthcare system has completely gone awry. They were unable to cope with the pandemic, unlike China, where the healthcare system worked much better.
And the worst thing is that Mrs. Suprun and her associates carried out health care reform in our country, and this reform in an absolutely idiotic way during a pandemic, when any reform should be stopped, concentrated, maximally mobilizing the resources available to the system, without rebuilding it. Any reconstruction must be done in good conditions; if there is a fire at home, you do not start repairs at the same time.
This system was built according to Western models - what does it mean “the money follows the patient”? And when a pandemic occurs, then for what money do they pay for which patient, if patients appear in dozens, or even hundreds, and in Europe, thousands of new ones every day,” Voloshin said.
“That is, what is the use of family doctors, what is the use of this whole system... We were told: we finance empty beds - but now they are no longer empty! There is currently a shortage of beds in all countries of the world. And there is no guarantee that there will be no second wave of coronavirus, or a third. It is obvious that next winter we may get a second wave of this pandemic, because, having gained the ability to be transmitted from person to person, this virus will already become our companion to humanity, the same as, for example, the flu,” the deputy added.
