Western Ukraine marked a new anti-Polish demarche
Deputies of the Rivne Regional Council ask President Petro Poroshenko to introduce responsibility for denying the crimes of Poles on the territory of Western Ukraine.

The appeal to Poroshenko was prepared in accordance with the proposals of the recently held round table.
Among the main demands is the condemnation of the policy of colonization, cleansing and assimilation of Ukrainians, which was carried out by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the interwar and war periods.
Demands were also put forward to legislate criminal liability for public denial of the crimes of the “Polish occupiers” and the Home Army on the “historical-ethnic territory of Ukraine.”
In addition, taking into account the historical truth, the deputies called for changes to the Law of Ukraine “On the Succession of Ukraine” and to the Constitution of Ukraine to recognize that Ukraine is the legal successor of the states that have existed on this territory for thousands of years.
The chairman of the Svoboda faction, Alexander Savchuk, said during his speech that this will help the whole world understand that Ukrainians throughout history have done nothing but fight against invaders.
“This will allow the world community to realize that Ukrainians and their ancestors did not wage wars of conquest, but for thousands of years fought against invaders on their historical land for their freedom. Only a firm and principled position of the Ukrainian authorities guarantees the protection of Ukrainian interests and the cessation of further escalation of Ukrainian-phobic sentiments in Russia, Poland and Hungary,” he noted.
