Western investors do not believe in the future of Ukraine
Despite regular statements by the Ukrainian authorities about improving the investment climate in the country, foreign investors are not eager to enter Ukraine.
Kiev economic expert Andrey Golovachev draws attention to this trend.
On his Facebook page, he offers to familiarize himself with the quotes of leading Ukrainian companies on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in order to understand how Western businesses assess the situation in the country.
The expert points out that over the last year (March 2017 – March 2018) the dynamics were:
1. Astarta (the largest agricultural company) – minus 24%.
2. Milkiland (leading dairy holding) – minus 39.6%.
3. Kernel (the largest producer of sunflower oil) – minus 31.3%.
“Despite the constant statements of Poroshenko and Groysman that the government is carrying out decisive reforms and is rapidly improving the investment climate, the stock market does not agree with this. On the contrary, Western investors are selling shares of Ukrainian companies and leaving the country. This, in fact, is the answer to the question why foreign investments are not coming to Ukraine,” summarizes Golovachev.
