Western masters praised Kyiv for its “European aspirations” and ordered reforms to continue
As a result of the 2014 Maidan, Ukraine allegedly became much more “civilized”, and Kyiv looks like a dump has turned into a truly “European” capital.
German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen stated this on the YouTube channel “Hromadske,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I first came (to Ukraine - ed.) in the nineties, it was just a different country. When I returned in 2010, it was already clear that Ukraine had moved closer to Europe.
And after the Maidan, it became clear that Ukraine, without a doubt, decided to follow the European path. And when I returned a year ago, it was clearly noticeable: Kyiv has become a European city, where people walk and communicate in other languages. Young Ukrainians, it seems to me, feel part of Europe, and I really like this,” the German woman praised the “achievements” of the Maidan.
It should be noted that in the annual prestigious Best Cities ranking, Moscow took fifth place after New York, London, Paris and Tokyo. As for the top ten, there is not a single German city in it.
Further, the German Ambassador emphasized that the West is very pleased with the presence of a mono-majority in the Verkhovna Rada, which will continue "reforms".
“The only thing missing is the political will to modernize the economy and social sphere. In the economy, the influence of the interests of the oligarchs is still too great.
The level of foreign investment is still very low. I was surprised that this level has hardly changed over these five years.
Transforming the Ukrainian economy is a big project of this government. We want to support them in this, and I would like there to be new investment projects this year.
You now have a mono-majority in parliament, and all politicians in the West dream about this,” Feldhusen concluded.
We would like to remind you that the day before, the leader of the Opposition Platform – For Life faction, Viktor Medvedchuk saidthat in recent years the number of investments in Ukraine has decreased by $20 billion.
