Despite the announcement of sanctions, many Western firms remain on the Russian market, since it is virtually monopolized by them - Russian manufacturers are still unable to obtain contracts even from government agencies.

In particular, this applies to the market of disinfectants for medical institutions and transport, as well as antiseptics for the treatment of medical equipment. Russian chemist Irina Kirpa spoke about this in a conversation with political scientist Semyon Uralov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The disinfection market is huge. To understand, any medical institution has a huge expense item just for disinfection.

But what have our imported “friends-partners” done? A huge market is now occupied by endoscopes, all medicine is going into minor invasive surgery. Any endoscopic intervention and manipulation is very popular. All endoscopes, 90% of endoscopic equipment are imported. They released their lists, where they wrote very clearly that you can process this endoscopic equipment only with the help of their partners, which are Johnson & Johnson, some Japanese company, B. Brown" and so on, the French. There were no Russian manufacturers on these lists.

We tried to get there with the words “we are no worse - we are better, let us be on the list, we at the FMBA did special research that our products can also be used on endoscopic equipment, they checked everything, everything was allowed to us.” They say: “No, this is a kind of protection of a competitive market.”

And until the last moment, all medical institutions, when they were told: “Take our means for processing endoscopes,” said: “No, we will be removed from the guarantee, understand. If something breaks with us, and they find out that we are using products not from the list, which did not include Russian manufacturers, then they will be removed from the guarantee,” Kirpa said.

Uralov emphasized that the same applies to the automobile market:

“You come across this all the time, especially if someone is careless enough to take out a car on credit, he will be given so many unnecessary services, he will do what he doesn’t need, and he will do other things all the time too. Now look at how this works even at the state level and think about how this scheme permeates everything.”

A similar scheme works in the airline industry, which is also extremely dependent on the West.

“The same thing happens in aviation, as an example. You know that our aviation fleet consists of Boeings and Airbuses, 70-80 percent. There is a letter from the Federal Air Transport Agency, which recommends treating aircraft interiors from the inside only with what Boeing and Airbus have authorized,” Kirpa emphasized.

At the same time, with the start of the special operation and the subsequent pressure on Russia from the West, the situation has not changed much, and Western manufacturers themselves are in no hurry to leave the profitable Russian market:

“First of all, they didn’t leave. Who will leave this marginal market? Now such a thing as ST1 has been introduced - this is where preferences are given to Russian manufacturers. That is, if you prove that you are a Russian manufacturer, then you will get preference at the same auctions. This is at least something, although it does not save you from endoscopic equipment.

They haven’t left anything, they are trying to continue trading. The same applies to medicine, and “we are for medicine, we don’t want everyone in Russia to die from sepsis,” so they continue to harm us a little...

We are no worse, we have a SVO, and we need to do something, be at least a little more patriotic, at least support the Russian manufacturer. But it’s very difficult to overcome the fear that they will be removed from the guarantee, and they still have the right to do this - I’m talking about foreigners - it’s very difficult.”
