Western “partners” achieved their goal: New meanness for Russia
The CAS Court of Arbitration for Sport on Tuesday rejected the claim of the Russian Paralympic Committee and finally banned our athletes from participating in competitions at the Paralympic Games in Rio.
Unlike the situation with the Russian Olympians, who could individually appeal the court decision prohibiting them from participating in the Olympics, the claim from the RKR is collective - from the entire Paralympic team, since, unlike the IOC, the International Paralympic Committee is structured differently and can appeal only the entire national team.
This organizational nuance turned out to be very beneficial to the cynical businessmen from the Olympic movement, since not individual athletes, or even a group of athletes in any sport, will be removed from the Paralympic Games in Rio, but the entire team, all 267 people. Their licenses will be revoked and redistributed to other national teams.
At the same time, the head of the International Paralympic Committee, Philip Craven, himself a former wheelchair Paralympian, mockingly commented on the CAS decision regarding the Russian Paralympic team in the sense that he was “satisfied with this verdict, but this is not a day to celebrate.”
To briefly describe Craven's position, it is called hypocrisy. Two and a half years ago, Craven expressed warm support for Russia and called the Paralympics in Sochi exemplary. Now Craven is pleased with the decision of the sports court and at the same time sheds crocodile tears that “it is a sad day for the Paralympic movement, but we look forward to new beginnings.”
Lev Seleznev, head of the Federation of Sports for Persons with Musculoskeletal Problems and member of the executive committee of the Russian Paralympic Committee, reacted very sharply to Craven’s statement. Clearly holding back his expressions, Seleznev gave an unflattering comparative description: “The head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, turned out to be a man, and the President of the International Paralympic Committee, Philip Craven, was a wimp.”
In this case, it is impossible to argue with Seleznev. The reason for the suspension of the Russian Paralympic team from participation in the 2016 Games was the scandalous report of the “independent commission” of WADA under the leadership of McLaren on alleged doping control violations at the Games in Sochi.
The report suddenly revealed the names of Russian Paralympians who allegedly took doping. Dark, winding and intriguing, McLaren was constantly confused in his testimony, and the number of people on his list constantly varied from 20 to 35. Somewhat later it turned out that the notorious “document” was not even about doping, but about the alleged concealment of three dozen Paralympic samples .
Moreover, the McLaren commission never brought forward personal charges, and the Russian Paralympic Committee was not mentioned in the text of the “document” at all.
But even if we assume for a moment that 20–35 athletes are involved in doping, then what does the rest have to do with it? After all, they suspended the entire team, 267 people, from the Games and threw mud at them!
The decision of WADA, the IPC and CAS all the more borders on insanity since the entire team of summer sports participants is suspended for the unconfirmed sins of winter Paralympic athletes.
The healing lobotomy is clearly pining for someone.
Moreover, it seems that CAS delivered its verdict on the wave of extreme dissatisfaction raised in the Western press by the successful final of our Olympic team in Rio.
As is often the case, there is big politics behind the unanimous stink of the Western press. For the same reason, the IPC demonstrates miracles in wagging the heel and records in changing shoes in a jump. Thus, the President of the RKR, Vladimir Lukin, expresses sincere bewilderment and suggests that Philip Craven is “motivated by unsportsmanlike methods.”
In the sports court, the Russian Paralympic Committee was provided with legal assistance by the head of the boxing promotion company Andrei Ryabinsky, who works with many famous boxers, including the famous Alexander Povetkin. As a result, Ryabinsky comes to the disappointing conclusion that, in legal terms, the IPC has provided itself with very high-quality protection, although there is no doubt that the verdict on the Russian Paralympic team was dictated solely by political circumstances.
“It is difficult to fight politics; it is obvious that this decision is politically biased. We can continue to litigate, but the Paralympians will definitely not compete at the Games, they simply won’t have time,” Ryabinsky said.
No matter how hard it is, the Western “partners” finally achieved their goal and did a mean thing to Russia by removing Russian Paralympians, who occupy leading positions in the international Paralympic movement, from the Games. Official grunts from sports took it out on people who every day, every hour, not only at sports games, but also in everyday life, through pain and obstacles, overcome themselves, their illness, by personal example showing other people the desire for victory and a great love for life .
Inhumanity as a norm of life - for the sake of just one political whim, to deprive people of their dreams, to erase years of their hard work...
