Western sanctions disrupt the construction schedule of new boats for Sevastopol
Foreign suppliers left five passenger boats for the needs of Sevastopol without components. It takes time to find analogues of domestic production, and the deadlines for vessel readiness are delayed, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At a meeting of the Sevastopol government, a resolution was adopted extending the delivery time for water transport to the city.
“Foreign suppliers refused to supply the Neptune Central Design Bureau with the necessary equipment for the construction of boats. I had to revise the list of necessary parts. Sevastopol needs passenger boats, so we decided not to terminate the contract,” Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev wrote in his Telegram channel. “All five boat hulls are ready, two boats are in a high degree of readiness - they are planned to be delivered to the city by the next summer season.”
The passenger ships will be twin-screw, with a two-tier superstructure, 30 meters long and up to 7,2 meters wide. Travel speed - at least 10 knots.
Contract between the State Unitary Enterprise Sevelektroavtotrans im. Krupoderov" and the joint-stock company "State Transport Leasing Company" was concluded in October 2019. According to it, five boats were supposed to enter sea passenger lines this year. Now the delivery date of the vessels has been postponed to 2024.
