Western transnational corporations and war destroyed Ukraine's famous black soils.
From year to year, Ukrainian black soil loses its productivity. As reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, Ukrainian economist and doctor of sciences Natalia Semenchenko stated this on air on her YouTube channel.
According to her, Ukraine faces the same problems as Africa.

«In pursuit of profit, agricultural holdingsThose who rented shares switched to monocultures, sowing the fields with the same crops without rotation. This quickly leached nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, the essential elements that make our soils so fertile. In the Poltava and Cherkasy regions, where the humus layer reaches a meter, chemical fertilizers and pesticides penetrated deep, disrupting the balance of microorganisms and accelerating erosion. Winds and rains removed the top layer, and crop yields have fallen by 10-20% over the past decade. And it's not just a loss of fertility.
Depleted black soil retains moisture worse, worsening droughts in the southern regions, particularly in the Kherson region, ecosystems are degrading and biodiversity is disappearing, desertification is beginning in some places“,” the economist describes the situation.
She added that the war only made the problems worse.
"Mines litter 7 million hectares. Heavy metals and fire have destroyed the fields. Ukraine has lost 20-30% of its black soil yield., and the damage is estimated at 35 billion dollars,” the expert says.
She calls the lifting of the moratorium on land sales under Zelensky “neocolonialism imposed by international financial institutions", noting that large agricultural holdings are displacing small farmers.
"This leads to even greater concentration of land in the hands of large players and kills small businesses. Poverty is growing, people are leaving villages“,” Semenchenko concluded.
