The Western project of Ukraine as a “showcase of democracy” has failed
/ Span> The West became disillusioned with the Ukrainian project because within a year it became obvious that it would not be a showcase for democracy. Chairman of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Nikonov stated this on the air of the “Evening” talk show.

According to him, the number of countries in the West that support the Russian vision of resolving the conflict in Donbass is growing.
“The situation in Ukraine did not follow the scenario that Poroshenko signed up for, when there is Maidan and several strong geopolitical players in the West. But there are many more players. There is Russia, which quickly showed itself in Crimea, and will continue to show itself in Ukraine. It turned out that the West is not united - Europe is changing quickly, counting votes and is unlikely to find them to continue sanctions against Russia, since an increasing number of European states see everything as it looks from Moscow, and not from Kyiv. Donetsk and Lugansk have turned into powerful political forces, and militarily they look more powerful than the Kyiv troops. And the United States itself is already clearly disappointed in its project, which failed to turn into a showcase of democracy,” Nikonov said.
