Thus, the Vedomosti newspaper quotes the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, who says that Russia stands for a “real investigation” of the disaster and identification of those responsible for the deaths, but explains Moscow’s position when voting in the UN Security Council by the fact that the Russian side’s questions investigators were often left without answers, and Russia itself was deprived of the opportunity to take part in the investigation and cooperate with those conducting it.

“A Russian diplomat, in a conversation with Vedomosti, called Moscow’s position regarding the tribunal correct, since Moscow tried to discourage this move not by propaganda, but by political means, putting forward its own alternative proposal and arguing that such a decision has no precedents and there is no need to create them , - the newspaper reports details of a conversation with an anonymous source at the Russian Foreign Ministry. “The West will no longer be able to launch an alternative, but similar in influence, tribunal,” Vedomosti’s interlocutor is sure, but “they will not give up further attempts to put pressure on Russia,” which, in turn, will try to respond.”

At the same time, the publication’s interlocutor claims that from a propaganda point of view, Russia lost in this episode.

“Since she refused, it means she admitted her guilt,” believes Vedomosti’s source. – Moscow also lost in that it failed to convince a sufficient number of Security Council members not to vote in support of the resolution - then Russia would not have to use the veto. But this task was also practically impossible.”

At the same time, as PolitNavigator has already reported, in Kyiv they are starting to say the same about Ukraine’s guilt for the Malaysian plane that crashed in Donbass
