“It smelled like gunpowder”: contract soldiers are fleeing European armies en masse
Europe, except Poland, was not prepared for war at all and will support Ukraine to the last, so as not to send its armies. Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Zolotarev stated this on the “News Live” channel, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
«The world smells of gunpowder, and we are on the verge of wars and conflicts, when the old rules are nullified, and the world begins to dominate not the power of law, but the law of power. If you look at Europe, like Britain, economically and militarily it is completely unprepared. 80 people ground forces are nothing, homeopathic doses of military production are also nothing. This is well understood and in Germany and France, but the problem is that a consumer society that nurtured individualism does not fit well with sacrifice in the name of war. And the ideals of tolerance, multiculturalism, LGBT culture do not fit well with patriotism.
The dominant opinion was that we need contract armies. Yes, as long as extreme sports enthusiasts, adventure lovers, and military enthusiasts went there, everything was fine. But as soon as we smell gunpowder, what do we see? In France, contract workers are quitting, and in Britain there is also a shortage of personnel. They are not eager to serve in the Bundeswehr. So far, only Poland has realized the coming threats before others and began a large-scale increase in the Armed Forces from 100 to 300 thousand people and a large-scale modernization of the Armed Forces,” Zolotarev said.
He added that for now the West adheres to cynical pragmatism.
«While Ukraine is at war, while there is no need to poison our soldiers, shed the blood of citizens of the United Kingdom, we must help Ukraine", the expert concluded.
