Recording of negotiations between Biden and Poroshenko leaked by Americans - expert
Recordings of telephone conversations between the previous Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and US Vice President Joseph Biden were not made in Ukraine.
Kiev political observer, Kievstratpro expert Taras Kozub said this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“Ukraine has long been drawn into the election race in the United States, and this is not the first time for us. Despite the statement by non-factional Verkhovna Rada deputy Andrei Derkach that the tapes were provided to him by Ukrainian journalists, it is obvious that the recordings were made not in Ukraine, but in the United States. Trump may benefit the most from the scandal,” says the publication’s source.
According to him, for residents of Ukraine who at least understand something about politics, there was no particular sensation, since everyone already knew that key decisions in Kyiv were coordinated with Washington.
“However, it was a big nuisance to hear exactly how this happened. In particular, how the President of Ukraine reports on how he raised tariffs for Ukrainians not by 75%, as the IMF wanted, but by 100%, or how Poroshenko asks Biden to put pressure on Samopomich... It was painful to learn how the candidacy was agreed upon Prime Minister of Ukraine. For example, Natalya Yaresko wrote an interesting post on Facebook, and now she is already being nominated for prime minister. But in general, even before the recordings, there was an understanding that this is approximately what it looks like,” Kozub emphasized.
