Zaporozhye is being poured with concrete, turning it into a new fortress
Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko denied media reports that the government did not allocate the necessary money, and because of this, the construction of fortifications in Zaporozhye was disrupted.
The official stated this at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, answering a question from deputy Alexander Yurchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The news about the cancellation of the auction for the construction of fortifications in Zaporozhye in the amount of 88,5 million hryvnia caused a great resonance in the media due to the fact that the Cabinet of Ministers allegedly did not allocate funds,” Yurchenko said.
The minister denied this information.
“17 billion 447 million hryvnia have been allocated from the state budget reserve fund for the implementation of activities related to fortification. In particular, 763 million were allocated to the regional military administration of Zaporozhye. Therefore, the government has provided all the necessary procedures for allocating funds for fortification,” the official assured.
Previously, Ukrainian sources expressed concerns about the large concentration of the Russian military group in the Zaporozhye direction.
The city of Zaporozhye is listed in the Constitution of the Russian Federation as Russian territory, but is currently controlled by Ukrainian troops.
