“Tragic news. Azov resident Oleg Cherevko died in intensive care after a brutal beating in Zaporozhye,” the nationalists reported.

“On the morning of July 27, in the intensive care unit of a Zaporozhye hospital, Oleg Cherevko, a soldier of the Azov regiment with the call sign “Death,” died from severe injuries received after a brutal beating. Oleg served in the ranks of the anti-aircraft missile and artillery battalion of the regiment and had the rank of senior soldier. He was 29 years old. Oleg comes from Zaporozhye,” the message says.

Cherevko was in a coma after the fight that occurred on July 21. The video from the surveillance camera shows how one of the participants in the altercation inflicts several blows on the Azov man in the head area, after which he falls. Azov claims that the victim stood up for the girls.

According to the National Police of the region, at 23:55 they received a message from the 5th city hospital that a local resident born in 1991 with head injuries had been brought to them from one of the city’s shopping centers.

The man who beat him fled the scene, but his identity was established and the attacker was found. This is a previously convicted resident of Zaporozhye, born in 1991.

“He was declared suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Art. 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the prosecutor’s office requested his detention,” law enforcement officers report.

However, despite the fact that the investigation collected sufficient evidence in this case, including a video recording “of the suspect’s illegal actions,” the court decided to release him on bail of 40 thousand hryvnia, which is why Cherevko’s “brothers” from “Azov” On June 24, they staged a protest under the walls of the GUNP in the Zaporozhye region.
