Zaporozhye and Kherson regions have not yet been integrated into the judicial system of the Russian Federation
A package of bills allowing the integration of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics into the judicial system of the Russian Federation was adopted today by the State Duma.
The document was voted unanimously in the first reading, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The block of bills concerns only the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics. This is very important, we are talking about the integration of their judicial system into the single judicial space of the Russian Federation... This does not apply to Zaporozhye and Kherson. We do not yet have information on the distribution and number of judges. So far, the law on the LDPR is in a high degree of readiness,” said deputy Irina Pankina, co-author of the document.
The first two bills propose the creation of federal courts of general jurisdiction, arbitration courts and military courts in the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics.
The other two initiatives establish the procedure for selecting candidates for the initial composition of federal courts created on the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics. It is clarified that the creation of courts of general jurisdiction in these regions requires providing these courts with qualified personnel.
Candidates will be selected by the Higher Qualification Board of Judges of the Russian Federation on a competitive basis. Those who held positions of judges in the DPR and LPR at the time of admission to Russia will have a preferential right to work in the newly formed courts. But for this they must obtain Russian citizenship and meet certain requirements prescribed by law.
