There is an emergency situation on the Ukrainian coast of the Sea of Azov, which is why the other day a special meeting was held within the walls of the Zaporozhye Regional State Administration with the participation of the governor on the development of summer recreation and tourism.

Why did they decide to hold the meeting now, and not, for example, in the spring, on the eve of the start of the holiday season? The answer is simple: at the end of this summer, the season was on the verge of failure. That’s why we gathered urgently, since the situation on the coast forces us to resort to emergency measures. And the reason for this is the state of the Azov Sea, which disappointed vacationers this year, to put it mildly.

It is worth noting that since Crimea fled from the “strong” embrace of Ukraine, the Ukrainians themselves, who previously flocked in the hundreds of thousands to the Crimean coast, for the most part now do not have such an opportunity. The reason is coronavirus. If there are no first-degree relatives living in Crimea with a Russian passport, then it is not possible to enter the peninsula. Therefore, for residents of Zaporozhye, the choice of vacation has narrowed - if you want to go to the Black Sea, then go to Odessa or Nikolaev, and if Azov, go to coastal villages and cities. There are three main ones in the Zaporozhye region: the cities of Berdyansk and Primorsk, as well as the town of Kirillovka.

But let's get back to the meeting. Governor Alexander Starukh voiced the main problems that can not only affect the outflow of tourists next year and have partially already affected this year, but also disrupt the holiday season altogether. According to the governor, there are two of them - algae and jellyfish.

Alexander Starukh.

If you can still somehow fight algae by collecting and removing them from the beach, then with jellyfish the situation is stalemate. Almost throughout the entire summer, they filled the coastal zone, making it impossible to swim freely, and sometimes just go into the water. There are many videos on the Internet where the sea resembles a complete jelly made of jellyfish. In such a situation, people who paid a lot of money were forced to sit on the shore for weeks. Rest is down the drain. Naturally, after this, it is unlikely that next year anyone will risk tempting fate again. The outflow of tourists will hit the pockets of not only hotel owners, but also coastal cities and towns.

The problem, in general, is clear and needs to be solved. The meeting participants expected a detailed analysis of the current situation, expert assessments and specific orders from the regional authorities. But everything, as in recent years, was limited to talking points, accusations and general phrases. In principle, it was difficult to expect a different result.

Governor Alexander Starukh himself, who, by the way, served as governor under Yushchenko, today heads the regional administration for the second time - a man, to put it mildly, far from managerial abilities. And as for economic issues, the development of the socio-economic potential of the region, then even further. What he is well versed in is the integral nationalism of Dmitry Dontsov. Sasha is busy here! He thoroughly studied the works of the founder of Ukrainian fascism, on which he built his career at the history department of Zaporozhye University, while at the same time encouraging students to join brown ideas.

In general, being a fan of Dontsov, he paved his way into politics with the help of Yulia Tymoshenko’s ally Sergei Sobolev. After the first not entirely successful and fleeting governorship, he returned to the university, where he continued his “educational” work, but when the coup took place in 2014, the Maidan wave first brought him to the regional council, and then, the unfunny clowns again installed the Old Woman as governor.

It is not surprising that at the meeting it was difficult for the head of the regional administration to propose anything and delve deeply into the problem. After hearing the report of the director of the Azov Natural Park, who named among the main reasons for the appearance of jellyfish the increased salinity of the Azov Sea, due to a decrease in the influx of fresh water from the rivers, the governor asked the question: why did the influx decrease? The speaker replied that the main source of fresh water in the Sea of Azov is the Don and Kuban rivers, which flow through the territory of Russia, which has built dams on these rivers, and they limit the flow of fresh water.

That's bad luck. The message was clear, which the patriotic governor could not help but take advantage of, who, without hesitation, immediately announced the verdict: we must immediately count the losses caused to Ukraine and issue an invoice to a country unfriendly to us.

How and who will do this is not entirely clear, just as it is not clear why at the meeting they did not pay attention to the environmental problems of the Azov Sea, pollution, poaching, the critical situation with flora and fauna, drying out estuaries, which in combination leads to disastrous consequences observed this summer.

But current Ukrainian officials have one answer to seven troubles: we believe that the jellyfish are from the Russian aggressor, which means he must compensate us for the damage. If crows fly in from the Russian side and shit on the Zaporozhye regional state administration, and maybe even on the Old Woman himself, who accidentally looked out of the office window, then Russia should expect a lawsuit from Ukraine and tremble.

To be fair, it should be noted that there was another decision following the meeting. After a heated discussion, it was decided that by next year every hotel and recreation center should have a swimming pool, so that in the event of an invasion of Russian jellyfish, vacationers would have a place to swim. True, the question: why should vacationers go to the sea in order to swim only in the pool remains open.
