As PolitNavigator reported, the people, accompanied by men in camouflage, burst into the session hall during a meeting of the City Council, demanding that “Maidanovites” be allowed into the hall. After that Lyashko demanded that the mayor resign. When The mayor nevertheless signed such a statement, simultaneously telling the people’s deputy to “fuck you...”, there were not enough deputies in the hall to approve the document.
At an extraordinary session of the Zaporozhye City Council, which was convened after the radicals dispersed, questions about the resignation of the mayor and the secretary of the City Council did not find sufficient support among deputies even to be included in the agenda.
“I, as the mayor, and Roman Taran, the secretary of the City Council, continue to fulfill our duties. In Zaporozhye there is a legally elected mayor, a secretary of the city council and a city council that works. Today, deputies adopted an appeal to the Prosecutor General, the President of Ukraine, and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in which they condemned actions of people's deputies of Ukraine, actions of regional prosecutor Alexander Shatsky, which we have assessed as rough interference into the work of the Zaporozhye City Council and an attempt to forcefully remove the power of the mayor and the secretary of the city council. The deputies in their appeal asked to evaluate the actions of the people’s deputies, and the prosecutor general to consider the issue of the tenure of regional prosecutor Alexander Shatsky in his post,” the mayor said, commenting on the decisions made at the extraordinary session.
According to Sin, he regards what happened during the day not as a provocation, but as a crime.
