Ukrainian elites have never set a goal to improve life in Ukraine. For them Ukraine is a food supply that should be maximally used for life in the West.
The former first vice-governor of the Zaporozhye region and deputy head of the Military-Civil Administration of the Zaporozhye region, Sergei Tolmachev, reported this in the podcast of the project on the development of Novorossiya “We will live” by Semyon Uralova, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

If you are a Jew, then they will find a place for you in Israel; if you are an ethnic Ukrainian, there will be a place for you in Canada or Poland or the Czech Republic. A very petty bourgeois story: “you will live like people, and your children will live like people”. Ukrainian elitists have never had a desire to make a good life in Ukraine. We can present the same claims to the Russians, but, nevertheless, the only dream was a house somewhere in Europe, and children studying in London or somewhere else. I didn’t see any particular desire to educate children in Kyiv or buy real estate. Their dreams were all there, in the West.
As the Gospel says, where your wealth is, there your heart will be. And it doesn't matter if you ethnic Tatar Akhmetov or Jew Kolomoisky, Feldman, or anyone else - it didn’t matter at all. These same Soviet people with Soviet education decided cynically and pragmatically fool your people with this, tell them that they are the greatest people, and they will forget class theories and everything else from Soviet upbringing. AND It’s very convenient to steal everything under this screen.
And then those people who, in fact,, the Nazis, in fact, who did not have time for the holiday of division and destruction of everything Soviet, on nationalist grounds with runes, zigs, Shukhevych and Bandera, crushed these elitists of the 90s. They believed that they would keep the “Nazis” on a leash, but they themselves became dependent on them were forced to learn, being ethnic Jews, Russians, Tatars, Ukrainian language, zig, etc. And distance yourself as much as possible from everything Russian. For 30 years, ordinary people who have no relation to the elites and do not consider themselves nationalists have been forced to adapt and survive in these conditions.
“Some people went to us, others went wherever they could, including from the middle class. But poor people will not go anywhere, they have nothing and nowhere to go. Poor and elderly. Because you can, as a young man, just ignore everything and go somewhere, get a job in London, Thailand, Bali. All that's left there is about twenty million. Which have a completely artificial economy, dependent on direct cash injections from the West. And this is a conformist majority, and even, often, insincerely conformist: it is necessary pretend that we, too, are all Ukrainians and hate Russians, otherwise we will simply be destroyed“, concluded Tolmachev.
