Last spring, an education reform was approved in Latvia, implying the gradual liquidation of Russian schools. In the 2019/20 academic year, the transition of education to the state language – Latvian – will begin. The reform is scheduled to be completed in the 2021/22 academic year.

On July 19, another protest against the liquidation of Russian schools will take place in Riga. It will be dedicated to the birthday of the Russian poet Vladimir Mayakovsky.
