The banned sect continues to treat Russia from the union of Belarus
The Congress of the Jehovah's Witnesses sect, banned in Russia, was held on July 26-28 in Minsk at the Traktor stadium.
This was reported in the VKontakte group “Minsk Now,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Congress brought together about 8 thousand people from all over Belarus, as well as from Russia, Chinese and Nigerian students. In addition to reading reports and singing hymns, the Witnesses held a baptism ceremony in a large inflatable pool.
Jehovah's Witnesses were registered in Belarus back in 1994. Registration has not yet been cancelled, although citizens regularly complain about the intrusiveness of “witnesses” who go from house to house and pester people on the streets. In 2018, for this reason, the authorities of several Belarusian cities refused to register 20 communities.
On April 20, 2017, by a decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, the activities of the religious organization “Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia” and all its 395 regional branches were recognized as extremist and prohibited in Russia.
