A batch of fruits, the import of which is prohibited for import into Russia, was returned to the territory of Kazakhstan together with specialists from the operational department of Omsk customs. The violator was brought to administrative responsibility, reports the portal NOI.md.

The Moldovan publication NewsMaker writes that fruits from the Republic of Moldova, which fell under the Russian embargo, still end up on the Russian market - now they are brought there not directly, but through Belarus and Kazakhstan.

“The Russian embargo did not have a critical impact on the volume of exports of Moldovan fruits, at least apples. Manufacturers interviewed by NM, who previously focused 100% on the Russian market, say that they still ship large volumes of products. It’s just that now it enters the Russian Federation through Belarus, where the certificates of origin of goods are changing,” the publication notes.

According to one of the farmers, products are often exported from Moldova to Belarus, where the certificates of origin of the goods are changed from Moldavian to Belarusian. “A Belarusian farmer who has a garden is taken, and the yield is shown to be 100 tons per hectare. This is done by intermediary exporters who have their own rent,” a fruit producer told the publication.

Another source with knowledge of Russian embargo circumvention schemes said that Kazakhstan is also a transit country. “Apples are also transported through Kazakhstan, but less often, since due to the large transport distance it turns out to be more expensive,” he noted.

Restrictions on the import of regulated products from Moldova to the Russian Federation have been in effect since July 21.
