“Of course, this decision is ambiguous, not everyone will be able to understand it - it often happens in our country that clarification does not always reach the masses and this is always bad. At a minimum, the situation needs to be clarified. Honestly, it’s difficult to react to this in any way now,” Enver Umerov, head of the national party Milli Firka, told Navigator.
“I think if you simply ban the event, it will look like an infringement of the Crimean Tatar people. If we translate it into a different format, but prepared, where the main idea of the day of grief, the day of remembrance remains, then that would be very good. Of course, holding this event as a political rally, a rally of demands and protests – this should have been abandoned a long time ago, but in return for this, nothing has really been proposed yet,” the agency’s interlocutor stated.
Let us remind you that previously the Crimean Tatar opposition has repeatedly made unsuccessful attempts to organize alternative events on May 18.
