The idea of Infrastructure Minister Vladimir Omelyan to ban railway communication with Russia today will not have positive effects for Ukraine.

The former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Nikolai Malomuzh, stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Today this is unrealistic. Up to three million Ukrainian citizens travel along the Kyiv-Russia route every year. Plus foreigners who are traveling in transit. This will create not only a technical or human problem, but also a political one. Plus, this format will be the reason for Russia’s powerful information campaign against Ukraine,” Malomuzh said.

“Big business works, and no one is stopping them from doing anything, but it will be ordinary people who will suffer first. Also, our allies from the EU will not understand us. Instead of the positive effect that Omelyan envisaged, that we would limit some contacts with Russia, we will get a big boomerang against us,” the ex-intelligence officer added.
