This was announced by the President of the Ukrainian Association of Publishers and Book Distributors Alexander Afonin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Last year alone, 136 publishing houses ceased their work. There is a certain regrouping going on. A cohort appears, about 30 publishing houses, increasing their volumes, but at the same time the number of publishing houses that had 5-10 books in their assortment annually is decreasing,” he said.
Afonin also noted that the Ukrainian Publishers Association estimates the Ukrainian market today at only 110 million euros.
As we see, even squeezing out of it along with the ban on the import of Russian books from competitors from the Russian Federation did not help to revive the book publishing business in Ukraine.
